Dr. Skuba continues to be one of the most active members of our club, volunteering in many capacities such as banker at Brightnights, casinos, and leading the way in arranging sales locations for our Grey Cup Pool. His dedication to the service of others in the community and around the world is unending and unsurpassed. As well, he has served his profession (education) in many capacities from the classroom to the most senior administrative positions (district superintendent), and his community . His entire life has been one of serving others and being an outstanding citizen of Alberta and Canada.

Lion Al and Edna celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. They enjoy golfing, traveling and camping. They have attended many District and MD Conference and Conventions. Both Lion Al and Edna are very dedicated to the object of Lionism.

Lionel Bird has been an outstanding Lions member for 37 years, since the Cremona Lions Club was formed. As well as serving as President of the Cremona Lions Club, he has been the chairman of numerous committees, the most recent being the Lions Eye Bank, which he has held since 1993 at which time it was Sight First.
Lionel has been the driver on all projects to raise money for these sight related causes, organizing and participating in, either walking a walk-a-thon or hiding his bike. Lionel and his family donated a parcel of land on the Dog Creek to the District 37E Lions for the construction of a camp which could be used by the youth of our district. This camp is now known as the Lion Lionel Bird Youth Camp and is used extensively by young people from all different clubs and organizations through the area. As well as Lionel’s work he does for Lions, he had been a long standing member of the Barley Growers Association, has been a delegate for the Alberta Wheat Pool, is an active member of the Cremona Curling Club where he is still active in Senior Curling at ninety years young. Anyone in the community would tell you that Lionel and Alma are the best community supporters in our area, never missing a wedding dance, community supper, or any other worthy cause that is holding an event. Lionel is a lifetime farmer and he and his family have received the Master Farm Family Award, their farm has been designated as a 100 year farm, as their family has farmed that land for over 100 years. Their farm specializes in Timothy Hay, Barley and cattle. The Birds in the past ran a large feedlot operators feeding their cattle.

Earl Johnson was born in Stavely, Alberta and raised at the Johnson Brother Sawmill Camp on Heath Creek, near Cowley, Alberta. Ear spent all of his life working in the sawmill industry. He and his wife Marion and family moved from the camp into the Village of Cowley where Earl became the Sales Manager of Johnson Brothers Sawmill.
PDG Lion Earl Johnson is a charter member of the Cowley Lions. Loin Earl and his brother-in-law are the only two remaining charter members of the Cowley Club. Two years after starting with Lions, Lion Earl joined PDG Bert Gibb (deceased) on his cabinet. Since then Lion Earl has held several chair s on cabinet. The Cowley Lions were famous for their rodeo, which started at the Lee ranch and grew to the now current Cowley Lions Rodeo grounds. In the early years, Lion Earl convinced his children Brent, Lorna, and Christine Lank, that helping the Lions was the thing to do. Lion Earl maintained that you are never too young to volunteer for Lions.
Lion Earl, his wife Marion, Daughter Lorna, Son-in-law John and grandson James all belong to the Cowley Lions. Son Brent and his wife Lucy belong to the West Lethbridge Lions Club. His Mother (deceased) was a charter member of the Pincher Creek Lioness and the Pincher/Cowley Roaring Lions. To quote Earl’s mother, “Joining Lions was the best thing Earl ever did, it brought him out of his Shell”. Lion Earl has given of his time and energy to Lions for the past 43 years.

Andy is active in him community. He volunteers at the Chamber of Commerce Visitor’s Center and the American Diabetes Association (ADA). At the ADA, Lion Andy is the liaison to the Lions Clubs of Montana and Northern Wyoming. Lion Andy has held many offices in is church and is currently serving as moderator. Lion Andy serves on the Board of Directors (Vice President) for Frontier communities a non-profit senior housing complex. Lion Andy was honored this past spring with the “Reaching People Award” for his work with the American Diabetes Association. Lion Andy is a Certified Guiding Lion and was recent installed as the Guiding Lion for the Billings Wave Lions Club
